Wisdom and Sanity
Padmini Arhant
Amid pandemic consuming lives at the moment, the mass gathering to express concerns and dissent on any issue is anything but wise. The timing and manner staging protests is the essence.
What could anyone possibly gain in contracting highly infectious disease and spreading all around beginning with own loved ones at home as well as near and far in the course of participating in riots and demonstrations?
Those involved in the ongoing mass riots and some among them misusing the opportunity to vandalize private and public property including looting are misguided in their action with intentional damage to self and others in the extreme activities on camera.
The behavior is indicative of instigated violence under the pretext of empathy for the deceased whose tragic death was a result of aggression and disrespect for life.
That being the case,
How does violence in response to violence make it right?
The various factions and groups out on the streets calling for justice on George Floyd’s death and alike whose names are never known and hidden from public need to reorient themselves on peaceful engagement via social media considering the pandemic effects continuing unabated only to be exacerbated in such close crowding and assembly that serve none whatsoever.
Human conduct exemplified through peace sanity and rationality is the hour of need not otherwise.
Thank you.
