Ukraine Peace Referendum

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky’s proposal on peace referendum to Ukraine public unwelcome by Moscow claiming that presenting the peace terms for popular vote would hurt negotiations between Moscow and Kiev.
Moscow’s stance in this context is contradictory.
The public referendum on peace terms would be democratic to assess the will of the people in Ukraine.
The Ukrainians having been and continue to be dominated by foreign powers either west or Russian and both in Ukrainian affairs, the Ukrainian people participation in expressing their consent or otherwise would be fair and transparent.
Moscow’s objection to this effect is again a dichotomy and double standard with Russia having accepted Crimean population referendum in 2014 and justified Crimean union with the Russian Federation then without any discussions or deal with Kiev in 2014 on Crimea.
Furthermore, the maidan square protest in 2014 and then democratically elected Kiev government under former President Viktor Yanukovich dilemma with Ukrainians on deal between EU and Moscow landed that government and leadership in exile.
In reflection of those events, the Ukrainians across the nation including those temporarily displaced as refugees in foreign shores in entirety participation in peace terms referendum would represent democratic choice and decision on the peace treaty with Russia.
Moscow would then have a direct response from the people of Ukraine on the important milestone determining their present and future.
President Volodymyr Zelensky as the head of the state and elected member of the government providing Ukrainians opportunity to decide via plebiscite or public referendum on peace terms with Russia is a democratic process and would be solidified to be inclusive not exclusive of citizens in Ukraine.
Letting the people exercise individual rights on their fate and the country they regard their homeland would be active democracy,
Peace to independent sovereign Ukraine and Russia!
