Happy Independence Day to Pakistan!
Independence is a relative term and largely related to a historic event at a particular period in any nation’s freedom struggle.
The fact of the matter is independence in every respect i.e. economic, social, political and individual rights experienced by every citizen across the spectrum regardless of socio economic status are yet to be gained by citizens not only in Pakistan, Afghanistan, India…but worldwide.
Unless this achievement becomes a reality in every part of the world, the independence celebration remains merely symbolic rather than substantive.
There is no doubt that nations endure turmoil. The majority of the problems and hindrance in any nation’s progress is due to poor governance and above all systemic corruption obstructing genuine economic growth and development.
Those seeking power barring rare exceptions though their presence are either invalidated or eliminated making them ineffective, the ones handed power in key positions are primarily appointed to serve the bidders and financiers of the candidates in the political campaign.
The appointees also pledge allegiance to forces in the background holding the strings to highest office and important portfolios in government. As a result, the idea of governance whether the political system is democratic or otherwise is transformed into fiduciary as opposed to constitutional and national responsibility.
The government not representing the electorate viz. the entire nation at large is responsible for the country’s status quo beginning with economic shambles, social discrimination, political instability, environment decay and overall decline.
These factors among myriad dynamics create the requirement to rest limited power in government body considering the misplaced priorities, misuse of authority and typically evading transparency and accountability.
Notwithstanding extraneous influence on the ruling members and political party overwhelming the concept of people or national representation.
Pakistan governance has long been under the dominance of domestic intrusion via military, intelligence and religious factions. The pattern has debilitated Pakistan’s ability to experience real democracy. The outcome of such political tradition has provided foreign powers direct authority over a sovereign nation.
Pakistan’s economic opportunities are substituted with terror manufacturing, sponsoring and deployment in nations near and far. The trend by default has sadly and tragically subject the ordinary lives in Pakistan the first casualties and victims of terror and violence.
The activities across the borders of Pakistan are by no means less violent and provocative. Again, the innocent lives in Pakistan and targeted territories across the border and away continue to pay the price exacerbating survival and normal existence all around.
Pakistan authorities investment in the economy renouncing terror and sectarian divide within and across the borders is the fundamental step towards liberty from economic indebtedness and foreign control over sovereignty.
While Pakistan’s youth and vast majority of population yearn for economic prospects along with peace and harmony within and across the Indian sub-continent, the shadow government and deep state like elsewhere make it harder and extremely difficult.
Nonetheless, the educated youth and hard working rural and countryside population such as farmers and industrial workers have the potential to turn the tide. Their consolidated efforts could impetus emergence from the economic stagnancy as well as political subjugation from domestic and foreign powers in Pakistan.
The women’s role in Pakistan is equally significant as the nation prides in women’s leadership and female personalities contributions – the cornerstone in politics, economic, social and diverse discipline for further women empowerment in society.
Happy Independence Day Pakistan!
