India – The Government, Opposition and Media Failure Behind National Crises in Every Frontier
Padmini Arhant
The nation with youngest population i.e. majority youth generation in the world and significant proportion among them educated, skilled and having great potential are unfairly governed and represented in politics by those barely comparable in any stretch of imagination in terms of intelligence, efficiency and importantly integrity.
In a nation undermined by fundamentalist ideology using religion, caste, creed and social economic hierarchy as political means to gain and remain in power, the remaining political representation as the so-called opposition survival primarily premised on dynasty politics and standby contingency to forge coalition merely to hold office in government.
The combined arsenic effect contributing to slow death of democracy.
The political class addiction to power, fame and fortune with zero tolerance to objective views on government policies and activities is a major setback for a democracy in name only failing the youth and the nation at large in every frontier.
The ruling class aimed at eliminating opposition using threats and monetary incentives such as hard cash and government positions in cabinet and foreign designations had long steered the nation towards authoritarianism. Similarly, the independent autonomous institutions and organizations are systematically dismantled and brought down under centralized unipolar system.
The role of media and press has been instrumental in the collapse of checks and balances on governance, politics, economy and society in general.
The pre-occupation in collusion and complacency to scapegoat imaginary enemy while complicit with real enemy on the Indian territory along the Himalayan region occupying the north eastern region and in all issues concerning citizens health, economic and social welfare is irrefutable irony.
When India’s reports on government data and state broadcasting networks’ COVID 19 status in 2020 were highlighted on this website and primary domain as far from being factual due to glaring anomalies on ground reality and government as well as politics controlled media projection,
There were insults, abusive language and memes hurled at personal level. The incendiary remarks and insolence reek contempt for standing up to corrupt forces and criminality.
Such reaction is the customary practice for those unable to handle truth and calls on ethical efficacy.
As such the cowardly unscrupulous nuanced attacks conveniently abused by those hiding behind proxies and pawns to defend indefensible position and relentless scathing assaults is confirmation of failures relying on falsehood and fabrications.
Not to mention the much touted intellectual elites and glorified historians deficient in courage and credibility to directly question authority persistently engage in insinuations targeting their fantasized enemy in obedience to domestic and foreign diktat rather than actual foes within country beginning with them.
Nonetheless, those seeking and assuming power must realize that power cannot be accepted with privileges alone. The important aspect of power is responsibility that cannot be evaded especially during crises demanding authorities’ urgent response accompanied by sensible actions not hypersensitivity to constructive perspectives on government mishandling of health catastrophe.
The ruling power extravagance squandering national revenue on building political party head quarters and branch offices in every city nationwide, launching monumental infrastructure with new Parliament building and above all self-adulation naming the nation’s largest sports stadium in Gujarat after thee viz. the Prime Minister are few of many examples in misplaced priority.
These expenditures at taxpayers’ expense and overwhelming poor and struggling population misery is political denial of national emergency. Again the lofty projects taking precedence over citizens’ desperate do or die reality and dire economic situation from the devastating pandemic is mere tip of the iceberg.
The update on this topic will resume in due course.
Thank you.
